BILLINGS – On Saturday, three local standout senior football players competed in their final prep game during the 71st Annual East-West Shrine football game held at the Herb Klindt Field located on the Rocky Mountain College campus in Billings.

Kasey Mock, Matthew Rensvold and Tanner Wilson represented the West in the game in which the East won 38-24.

Polson Pirate and soon-to-be Montana Grizzly wide receiver Matthew Rensvold was named the offensive MVP for the West. Rensvold caught 11 passes for 140-yards and scored a touchdown on a 5-yard catch.

Future Grizzly and Pirate Quarterback Tanner Wilson had a good game as well. He finished with 231 yards while going 13-of-22 passing with no interceptions. Wilson scored two touchdowns in the game, one on an 8-yard quarterback keeper within the first two minutes of the first quarter and added another in the third quarter by connecting on a 55-yard pass play.

On the defensive side of the ball, University of Montana Western commit and former Ronan Chief Kasey Mock had a strong game at linebacker and was credited with five tackles.

The East-West Shriners game is about much more than just yardage and touchdowns. It is an opportunity for the high school all-stars to raise funds for and to help make the public aware of the first rate burn and orthopedic care provided and available at the Shriner’s Hospital for children in Spokane, Washington.

“Being able to play for a greater cause than football and play with some amazing guys and coaches was an unbelievable experience,” Rensvold said.

Playing in and being associated with the Shriners game wasn’t lost on Mock either.

“It’s a cause that makes you humble and sit back and realize what a gift it is to be able to do what we do every day, it was one of the greatest honors that has ever been bestowed upon me as a player,” Mock said. “The Shrine hospital is the greatest thing for children and for me it was about playing for the kids and raising that money that they need to continue to provide care for those who need it.”

Next year’s game will be played in Great Falls and in 2019 the game heads to Butte for a fourth time.
