POLSON – A 38-year-old Pablo woman faces an assault with a weapon charge and a parole violation after she allegedly beat up a man on May 20.

Dawna Mae Michel got into an argument with the man and then forced her way into a bedroom where the man was, according to a court document.

Michel, who has a prior violent offense, allegedly shoved the man to the floor and hit him with her fists and then with a 3-pound air conditioning unit repeatedly, resulting in injuries to his face, head and arm.

At some point, the man grabbed an alarm clock and wrapped the cord around Michel’s neck in an attempt to stop her, a court record states.

Michel was on conditional release from the Department of Corrections when the alleged assault occurred. She then allegedly ran into the woods in order to escape law enforcement.

Michel was arrested on July 19 and pleaded not guilty in court on July 27. A trial date was scheduled for Nov. 13.
