RONAN — Well the smoke is really hanging in there. We are suffering more each day from it. And the news from other parts of our country isn’t much better. There is suffering and loss in all directions, we all need to stop each day and think about our fellow man and think if there is anything we can do for family, friends or neighbors. Kindness is often free and it can mean the world to someone who is going through his or her own private hell. We need to set a goal for ourselves to try to do one act of kindness every day even if it is just to smile at someone who is down. Smiles are free and it is hard not to return a smile when you are given one.

Next week’s menu is:

—  Wednesday, Sept. 13: sub sandwiches, sides and dessert

—  Thursday, Sept. 14: pork roast dinner served as the evening meal with potatoes, vegetables, fruit, dinner rolls, dessert

—  Friday, Sept. 15: cook’s choice

—  Monday, Sept. 18: we are celebrating our “senior of the year,” George Stonehocker with pizza, salad and dessert

—  Wednesday, Sept.20: chicken and spinach fettuccine, garlic toast, vegetables, dessert

The foot clinic will be held at the center on Wednesday, Sept. 13, beginning at 10 a.m. The center is looking for a driver to deliver meals five days a week. If you are interested call the center at 406-676-2371.

I saw a posting on the Internet the other day, which fits our area right now. It showed a rainbow and it said “We found out what is at the end of the rainbow and it is more precious than gold,” and it showed a picture of a firefighter at the end of the rainbow. We all need to take a moment each day and say a prayer for our firefighters. They leave their families safe at home and put their lives on the line to help save our lives and property. They are owed a huge debt of gratitude. We are complaining about the smoke but just think what they are dealing with.
