Volleyball

BROWNING –  The Polson Lady Pirates claimed fourth place at the Northwestern A volleyball district tournament on Saturday by falling 25-17, 25-14, 25-17 to Whitefish in the consolation final. The Lady Pirates will advance to divisional tournament play in Butte, which begins Thursday.

Polson went 2-4 in the tournament, losing to Whitefish 25-17, 25-14, 25-17 and Libby 25-11, 25-21, 25-12, while beating Browning 25-14, 25-16, 24-26, 27-25 and cross-county rival Ronan 25-10, 18-25, 25-13, 25-18. 

During the tournament, Kyler Lundeen notched double digit digs and Laurel Bitterman posted double digit assists in each of their matches.

CHARLO – The Charlo Lady Vikings, under first year coach Janelle Pruitt, nabbed a third-place finish at the District 14C tournament held in Charlo on Friday.

The Lady Vikings, who drew a first round bye, managed to slip past Noxon in five sets 25-12, 21-25, 13-25, 25-23, 15-8 in their only match on Thursday.

On Friday, the Lady Vikings fell 22-25, 21-25, 25-15, 25-16, 15-6 to cross-county rival Arlee and took third place by dropping a 16-25, 24-26, 25-16, 25-21, 15-6 five set match with Plains.

Charlo was paced during the tournament by Kaitlin Cox, who had double digit kills and Teaira Truman who had double digit assists in all three matches. 

BROWNING – Ronan Maiden Tiana Ulutoa dished out a total of 16 assists and 19 digs during the two-day Northwestern A district tournament in Browning. 

In tournament action on Friday, the Maidens fell to cross-county rival Polson in four sets 25-10, 18-25, 25-13, 25-18 and dropped their loser out match on Saturday to Whitefish 25-13, 25-20, 25-9. Freshman Madeline McCrea added nine kills and three blocks in the Whitefish match for the Maidens.

ST. IGNATIUS – In the final home game of the season on Oct. 24, the Mission Lady Bulldogs fell in straight sets 25-19, 24-14, 25-9 to Bigfork. Afton Brander led the Lady Bulldogs with four blocks and three kills.

On Thursday, Mission ended their regular season on the road with a 25-12, 25-8, 25-8 loss to Florence. Karolyn Buck had five kills, while Sophia Tolbert led Mission with seven assists.

 

Football

ENNIS – On Saturday, the Arlee Warriors’ season ended with a 56-0 loss in the first round of the Class C 8-man playoffs against the Ennis Mustangs.

The Warriors were out of sync offensively most of the game, putting the ball on the turf three times against the defending state champion Mustangs who outgained Arlee in overall yardage, 343 to 78.
