Judge James A. Manley sentenced the following people on Nov. 28:
Roger Dale Oldperson, 49, of Ravalli, received 13 months in the Department of Corrections with an additional five years suspended for his fourth or subsequent DUI. Oldperson was charged following a May 4 traffic stop and originally charged with child criminal endangerment. He was given credit for four days in jail.
Sam Joseph Glover, 55, of St. Ignatius, was given a three-year suspended sentence for assault with a weapon for pointing a pistol at a man and demanding that he finish work on his truck. The incident took place July 1 on St. Mary’s Lake Drive. Law enforcement recovered the pistol. Manley approved a condition that Glover follow the recommendations of his Sunburst mental health case manager. Glover was given credit for 32 days in jail. A charge of tampering with a witness was dismissed as part of a plea agreement. Glover had allegedly contacted the victim through a third party and threatened that his friends would help put the victim back in prison. Glover’s sister, Amy Miller, earlier testified that since June or July Glover sent “probably over $30,000 to Nigeria” in a scam. Glover’s nephew by marriage, John Wahley, testified that Glover pointed a gun at him. “He needs some kind of structural help,” Wahley said.
