Marlene Skalsky

POLSON — Marlene Joyce Skalsky, 78, of Polson, passed away on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at home surrounded by family and friends overlooking Flathead Lake. Marlene had suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) for the past several years.

She was born on Feb. 3, 1939, in Beach, North Dakota, to Julius and Barbara Larsen. In 1959 she married Paul Skalsky in Sidney where they raised their three boys. Marlene worked as a nurse’s aide in the local nursing home for over 33 years, where she was dearly loved by so many of the residents. She had a sense of humor that endeared her to everyone who knew her. After retiring, Marlene enjoyed volunteering at the local GoodCents Store before moving to Polson, in 2013 to be closer to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Paul and sister, Betty Zinsli.

Survivors include her three sons, Jeff of Missoula, Todd (Lisa) of Polson, and Mark (Tatia) of Polson; three granddaughters, Brooke (Weston) Schaat of Lakeside, Morgan (Sam) Morton of Sandpoint, and Lai-La of Missoula; and five wonderful great-grandchildren, Cooper, Jackson, Elliott, Patrick and Sidney. Cremation has taken place and the family will take Marlene to Sidney next summer for burial. Memories and condolences may be sent to the family at: www.thelakefuneralhomeandcrematory.com.
