Judge James A. Manley sentenced the following people on Dec. 20:

Gabriel Michael Broughton, 18, of Bigfork, received a two-year deferred sentence for an amended charge of criminal endangerment. Broughton was originally charged with sexual intercourse without consent and sexual abuse of children, the latter charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement. According to a court document, Broughton was 17 when he enticed a 13-year-old girl to his father’s shop in Ferndale and forced various sex acts upon her in May or June 2016. Manley ordered Broughton to have no contact with the girl or her parents. He was also ordered to complete sex offender programming with a licensed therapist. Broughton was given credit for one day in jail. Manley noted that he had a negligible criminal record.

Paula Joyce McDonald, 34, of Pablo, was given a five-year sentence to the Department of Corrections with no time suspended for possession of dangerous drugs. That charge was amended from possession with intent to distribute. The sentence will run concurrently with one for criminal endangerment. McDonald was sentenced to five years in DOC after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase in August 2006. She was out on parole when charged in the current case. She was given credit for 92 days in jail. Manley noted that McDonald was suspended from the local drug court.
