Class 14C, Plains used a big second quarter to come away with a 65-51 victory over visiting Charlo Vikings on Thursday. Viking Landers Smith led all scorers with 19 points.

On Saturday, Landers Smith paced three scorers in double figures with a game high 17 as the Charlo Vikings cruised to a 68-28 road win over St. Regis. Tyson Petticrew tallied 16 points for the Vikings followed by Connor Koenig with 11 points.

The Charlo girls’ basketball team had a strong start on Thursday, but the Plains Trotters came on stronger, winning 36-31 on the Trotters’ home court. Kaitlin Cox led the Lady Vikings with 14 points.

Teaira Truman, Liev Smith and Kaitlin Cox netted 10 points apiece as the Lady Vikings secured a 36-34 road win over St. Regis on Saturday.

The Warriors rolled to a 65-14 road win Thursday over Hot Springs. Lane Johnson scored a game high 18 points for the Warriors as teammates Greg Whitesell and Dar Bolen added 10 points apiece.

Visiting Arlee held the Eagles to two points in the third quarter to grab a 93-28 road victory on Saturday. Greg Whitesell paced a Warrior attack with five double digit scores and 22 points. Phillip Malatare scored 20 points, Lane Johnson had 17 points and Will Mesteth chipped in 10 to round out Arlee’s top scorers.

Alyssia Vanderburg scored a game-high 26 points as the Scarlets defeated Hot Springs on Thursday for a 51-29 road win.

Arlee built a 33-3 halftime lead and went on to easily defeat the hosting Valley Christian Lady Eagles 58-6 in class C action on Saturday. Alyssia Vanderburg scored a game-high 27 points for the Scarlets.

The Pirates struggled to get their offense going Thursday night in a 63-48 home loss to Glacier.

Shade Main scored a game-high 18 points for Polson.

Connor Lanier scored a game-high 16 points for Polson to give the Pirates a 58-51 Northwest A conference road win over Whitefish on Saturday. Robin Erickson scored 14 points and Shade Main added 12 points for the Pirates.

Glacier suffocated the Lady Pirates’ offense Thursday night to get a 47-18 home win.

Jaycee Frydelund led all Lady Pirates scorers with eight points.

Polson’s big fourth quarter Saturday was enough to propel the Lady Pirates past the Lady Bulldogs 53-48. The Lady Pirates went on a 18-6 scoring run in the period to turn a 24-16 halftime deficit into a road win. Kaelyn Smith scored a team high 19 points, Alex Pierre scored 13 points and Jaycee Frydelund scored 12 points for Polson.

The Libby Lady Loggers picked up a 50-38 home win Thursday against the Ronan Maidens. Micalann McCrea led the Maidens with 16 points.

The Maidens were outscored 18-8 in the first quarter and 15-8 in the third quarter of the 55-44 road loss against Browning on Saturday. Regan Clairmont scored a game-high 11 points for the Maidens.

Libby used a dominant fourth quarter to get past visiting Ronan 59-52 on Thursday. The Chiefs trailed 16-12 after one quarter before taking a slim 29-26 advantage at halftime. Zeke Misa scored a game high 25 to lead the Chiefs while Anthony Camel chipped in 13 points.

The Chiefs’ defense couldn’t make up for a slow night offensively Saturday against Browning in an 81-33 home loss. Dallas Durhim led the Chiefs with 19 points, while Anthony Camel added 11 more.

Three Two Eagle River players reached double-figures scoring in the Eagles’ road victory over Hot Springs on Friday. Both Brandon Larios and Dom Finly dropped 12 points and Brendon McDonald finished with a game-high 22 points in the 57-40 win.

The Eagles fell 77-57 to the visiting Noxon Red Devils on Saturday evening. Brendan McDonald scored a game high 29 points followed by teammate Dylan Moran who scored 11 points for the Eagles.

Two Eagle River Lady Eagle Justina Big Beaver scored a team high 11 points in the 48-32 road loss to Hot Springs on Friday.

On Saturday, the Lady Eagles fell 67-16 to the visiting Lady Red Devils. Justina BigBeaver and Ce’Alana Shepard scored a team high six points apiece.

Bigfork’s big offensive performance was too much for the Bulldogs to get past on Friday as they fell 71-24 on the road to the Vikings. Jacob Hugs led the way for the Bulldogs scoring half of the team’s 24 points.

The Bigfork Valkyries had little trouble putting the Lady Bulldogs away quickly Friday in a 69-20 home victory. Afton Brander score a team high eight points for the Lady Bulldogs.

Mission/Charlo finishes 2nd at Ted Kato Invite

THOMPSON FALLS – Mission/Charlo placed second as a team with 125 points, while Arlee placed sixth with 72.5 points on Saturday during the ten team Thompson Falls Ted Kato Invitational.

Walker Murphy (113), Bailey Weible (126) and Cole Gilleard (132) earned second-place finishes for Mission/Charlo.

Darwin Adams (138), Isaiah Alik (160), Miles Anderson (170), Lucas Wohltmann (205) and Chris Anderson (285) all took third at their respective weights for Mission/Charlo.

Medalists for the Arlee Warriors were Jace Samsel (103) and George Shick (182) finishing at second place followed by third place finishers Colt Crawford (132) and Skyler Titsworth (152). 

 

Polson and Ronan fall short at Class A Duals

LEWISTOWN – On Friday and Saturday, the Ronan and Polson wrestling squads competed in the Class A Duals held in Lewistown.

On day one, Ronan went 4-1 in its matches defeating Hamilton 53-21, Hardin 42-28, Billings Central 60-15 and Dillion 60-14 while falling 44-24 to Havre. Polson swept its matches defeating Belgrade 48-27, Stevensville 56-18 and Glendive 54-24.

Day two saw a match up between Ronan and Polson with Polson narrowly slipping by Ronan 36-34.

Ronan finished the day with a loss to Lewiston 36-31 while Polson fell 36-24 to Frenchtown and dropped its semifinals match 31-30 to Lewistown.
