ARLEE – The Arlee Fire Department volunteers were amazed when they realized Drew Hendrickson had put in 40 years of service this year with the department, so they honored him at their annual banquet on Sunday night.
“We’ve never given this award, and chances are we might never give it again,” said Keith Barrows, fire board member.
Hendrickson was also the top responder going to 140 of the department’s 276 calls for 2017, and he has been the top responder several times. He received a standing ovation during the banquet and was called the town’s hero. Hendrickson accepted the award and humbly started mentioning the good work of all the other volunteers.
During the banquet, many firefighters and emergency responders were awarded for their service. It was announced that Sean Parson is the new fire chief and Katie Parson is the ambulance director.
