Ferol Burton

POLSON – Ferol Dawn Burton, 80, was born Oct. 8, 1937, to Roy E. Burton and Viola Moss Burton, when her father worked on the building of Kerr Dam. She was a proud member of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribe and was very proud of her Pondera heritage. She was raised in St. Ignatius under the shadow of her beautiful Mission Mountains, which she only left for a few years, living in Portland, and then returned to her cabin on the East Shore, which she named Swampshore. She has lived there over forty years enjoying her skunk cabbage, deer, bears, turkeys and many other wild friends.

In 1967 she became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She is now sleeping under the shadow of her Mission Mountains until she awakes in the resurrection in the Paradise Earth. She was married to Bud Hawkins for several years and had one son, David; and a grandson, Everett; and his daughter, Destyne.

Ferol is survived by her son, David; her grandson, Everett; her granddaughter, Destyne; and two sisters, Dianne Wolfe and Bernice Fugere.

A service will be held at the Polson Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses on Saturday, April 7 at 3 p.m.
