RONAN — Well another school year will be soon drawing to a close. I remember how bittersweet it was to have the school year end when I was younger. You were excited to be out of school, but there were some friends you wouldn’t be seeing much until the start of the next school year. I grew up in a small town in Nebraska where we had kids that would either drive many miles to school or sometimes the mother and children would relocate to town for the school year and then go back to the ranches and the family on weekends and for the summer.
There are several things going on at the Ronan Senior Center. There are arts and crafts every Wednesday following the noon meal, so if you have a project you are working on and would like to spend some time with other crafters, bring it along and come join the ladies on Wednesday afternoon.
The center will be closed on Monday, May 28, in honor of Memorial Day.
On Friday, May 25, we will hold the monthly birthday dinner honoring all who have had birthdays in the month of May. We are doing a raffle of gifts in a cooler for the man in your life. Several of our area businesses have donated items that any man would like to have. The drawing will be held the Friday before Father’s Day. There will be someone sitting at Harvest Foods on Fridays or stop by the center to purchase your tickets.
This week’s menu:
— Wednesday, May 23: chicken tortellini, French bread, veggies, salad, dessert
— Friday, May 25: our monthly birthday dinner — roast beef, mashed potatoes, veggies, salad, cake and ice cream.
— Monday, May 28: closed in observance of Memorial Day
— Wednesday, May 30: Burgundy beef stew, rolls, salad, dessert
