Drug bust ends in arrests

News from Polson Police Sergeant George Simpson

POLSON – Over the course of the past month your Polson Police Department conducted a short-term drug investigation as part of our Drug Endangered Children Initiative. This investigation was originated by intelligence we received from community members.  The investigation was concluded on the week of June 1 with the execution of three residential search warrants located in various parts of the city.

During the warrant service, multiple items of evidence were seized such as methamphetamine, marijuana, and various items of drug paraphernalia. Five adults were charged as a result of the investigation. The charges include criminal possession of dangerous drugs, criminal child endangerment, criminal possession of drug paraphernalia and five outstanding unrelated warrants.

No children were found inside the home and nobody was injured during the warrant service.  Two small children do reside in one of the homes, but they were not present at the time the warrant was served, however Montana Child Protective Services have now intervened. The children are currently in a safe environment. The names and locations were not released to protect the dignity and identity of the involved children.

This was a joint law enforcement effort with the Flathead Tribal Police, and we appreciate their assistance. The community really stepped up and provided us with information. The best intelligence we get comes from our neighbors. We will continue to identify, investigate and dismantle suspected drug organizations in our community.
