Pamela “Ayla” Williams

POLSON — Pamela “Ayla” Williams, 76, of Polson, passed away peacefully at sunset on May 30, 2018, at her home at the Retreat. Ayla was born on May 24, 1942, in Los Angeles, California, to Evelyn and Spencer Prinz.

She grew up in the Hollywood Hills with movie stars for neighbors. One of her favorite childhood memories was singing on stage, while her father played drums with a big band. In her 20s, she moved to Guam for a few years with friends, where she was a waitress.

On July 23, 1974, she married Jeffrey Williams near Santa Cruz, California. They had one son, Justin. They moved to Bainbridge Island, Washington, and then to Felton, California. Although they later divorced, they remained friends for her entire life.

Ayla worked as a florist and psychic while residing in California. She later moved to Montana and worked for the forest service, at a marina, and then as a gardener.

Ayla was extremely adventurous, determined, and brave. She was a Sun Dancer at Pine Ridge Reservation for four years and then supported dancers in the years following. She loved to swim in the cold mountain lakes of Montana, and lived in a wood-heated cabin in the foothills of the Mission Mountains until she was 74. She also was an artist and illustrated two children’s books. She was an avid gardener, and loved socializing, movies, listening to rock and roll, and road trips.

Ayla is survived by her sister, Linda Carpenter and family; her son, Justin Williams, and several friends who loved her very much.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memories and condolences may be sent to the family at: www.thelakefuneralhomeandcrematroy.com.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory.
