Tennis

The Montana Coaches Association has announced that Polson High School tennis coach Bob Hislop has been voted by MCA members as MCA Tennis Coach of the Year. 

Hislop will be honored at the MCA All-Sport Coaches Clinic on Aug. 2nd in Great Falls during the MCA Awards Program.

 

Baseball

Mission Valley Rockies

The Mission Valley Rockies were swept in a double-header on Sunday in Thompson Falls against Clark Fork.

In the first game, the Rockies lost a close extra inning battle 10-9 and dropped the second game 10-0.

The Rockies will be having a home stand this weekend. 

On Saturday, the Rockies face Clark Fork once again in a double header match up at 1 p.m. and take on Helena in double header action on Sunday at noon.

 

Mission Valley Mariners

A six-run fifth inning sparked Mission Valley Mariners’ high-scoring 16-4 win over hosting Cranbrook, in the first game of a double header on Saturday.

Bryant Hales led the Mariners at the plate with a 3-for-4 two RBI effort. Izyk Gillingham went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

The second game was a much closer affair with the Mariners prevailing 4-3. Tyson Petticrew went 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and an RBI.

Sunday saw visiting Kalispell sweep the Mariners 14-12 and 12-6 in conference double header action. 

Petticrew went 2-for-4 with a triple in the first game, while Keyan Dalby, 

Corbin Davis and Gillingham all had two RBIs apiece.

In the second game of the afternoon, Petticrew led the team at the plate with a 3-for-4 effort and an RBI, while Gillingham had two RBIs.

The Mariners will be on the road in Libby competing at the Libby Big Bucks Tournament on June 21-24.
