POLSON – This weekend, rodeo fans put on their boots and hats and made their way to the 78th annual Mission Mountain NRA Rodeo at the Polson Fairgrounds’ Less Baldwin Arena.

Although attendance wasn’t quite a capacity crowd, fans who attended the two-day family-friendly event were treated to high-intensity rodeo action, an appearance by Northwest Montana Pro Rodeo Queen Kayla Seaman and the witty banter between public address announcer Josh Linbaugh and rodeo clown Maurice Harris.

Rodeo skills of more than 150 professional rodeo contestants, some from as far away as Canada, Idaho and Wyoming, were put to the test by rough stock provided by Big Circle Rodeo.

The ladies' barrels first-place check of $824.62 went to Charlo cowgirl Abby Knight with a time of 17.55, while junior barrel Cadence Schweigert of Polson won with a time of 18.72. Ronan’s Maddy Clary finished second and Blair Lytle placed third.

Ronan’s Ryle Lytle picked up a fourth place finish in the junior breakaway with a 5.5-second run.

Charles Lytle from Arlee scored 70 points to walk away with the win and a $686.20 check in the saddle bronc event.
