ST. IGNATIUS – The 36th Annual Good Old Days Celebration, featuring three days of family events, starts Thursday, July 19.

This year, the event kicks off with the first ever tennis tournament for all skill levels. Kimimi Ashley, local tennis expert, is hosting the tournament. Those interested can call her at 406-273-8203 for more information.

During Friday’s Good Old Days Barbeque, there will be special seating for the 100th Year All Class Reunion to get together. Friends can come to the dinner together or gradates can come find old friends. This year’s 2018 St. Ignatius High School graduating glass was the 100th group to graduate. Specific classes will also be celebrating with their own floats in the big parade.

Also on Friday, kids ages 0 to 18 can participate in the Little Mister and Miss Good Old Days Pageant. For more information, contact Pam Thompson at 406-396-7838.

Other events include a dessert-baking contest, pancake breakfast, and one of the longest parades in Lake County. People will put racing skills of all kinds to the test during the event from a half marathon foot race to a lawnmower riding track race. Dogs can get involved with their own racing competition, and the winner will be awarded the title of “Fastest Dog in Lake County.”

If the usual hot summer day is too much to handle, folks can go sit in the St. Ignatius Senior Center and play a few rounds of bingo. The St. Ignatius Volunteer Fire Department also sprays water into the air for a cool shower at the end of the parade. The Tug-O-War competition is on again this year in the park on Saturday, so people of all ages should come prepared to get muddy.

Cornerstone is hosting a pizza eating contest and movie night at the amphitheater on Saturday. The newest version of “Jumanji” will be the featured film. The third day wraps up with a Good Old Days Fly-in breakfast on Sunday at the St. Ignatius airport.
