RONAN — Cycling enthusiasts from the Mission Valley are excited to roll out plans for the first annual Mission Mountain Area Pedal to Plate on Sept. 22, 2018.

The 40-mile ride begins and ends at the Lake County Ronan Fairgrounds. Cyclists will make a loop through the valley with stunning views of the Mission Mountains as they peddle past lush farms and ranches. At the end of the ride, participants will be treated to seasonal culinary creations by Take It Or Leave It caterers and food truck, based in Saint Ignatius. Take It Or Leave It features local organic produce and meats in their dishes. They are gaining a reputation in the Missoula area for delivering unique dishes for their country breakfasts on Sundays at Missoula’s Western Cider.

Cycling participants will make four stops to sample locally produced foods, including Dixon Melons cantaloupe, Fresh Roots popsicles, homemade sourdough bread from Crow’s View Farm, and seasonal samples from Glenwood Farm.

The event is a community effort to promote eco-tourism and bicycling safety. Organizers also hope to showcase sustainable agriculture.

Volunteer Janet Sucha has been working with a community group for months to put all the pieces in place. An avid cyclist herself, Sucha believes the Mission Valley is a fun place to ride and wants to show it off to others.

Registration for MMAPP costs $50 and can be made at: https://www.bikereg.com/mission-mountain-area-pedal-to-plate.

Updates and information are also available on Facebook at: Pedal2Plate.

Lake County Community Development Corporation is the fiscal agent for this event with help from area sponsors. If you would like to volunteer or get more information, please contact Rosie Goldich at 406-676-5913.
