News from MSU Explore

BOZEMAN—Several middle school youth from St. Ignatius  and Ronan were selected by competitive application to attend MSU Explore: Earth and Space Science Camp, a week-long camp at Montana State University held June 24 to 29.

MSU Explore encourages Montana middle school students to learn more about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). It inspires students to consider science-related careers, encourages them to pursue a college education, and also gives them a taste of college life. Students must apply for the camp and submit two adult recommendations.

Selected students were Gracie DuMontier of St. Ignatius and Isaac Cantlon and Jesse Richey of Ronan.

“It is truly an honor to be selected for MSU Explore – not just for the child but for their family and community,” said Jamie Cornish, camp director and science outreach specialist with MSU Academic Technology and Outreach. “We look for kids who show an interest in expanding their world and who want to see what college is like. Of course, we’d love to see them in the future as Bobcats, but mostly, we hope this camp opens doors to all the possibilities that are out there.”

MSU Explore is hosted by MSU Academic Technology and Outreach with support from the NASA Northwest Earth and Space Science Pipeline (NESSP) project.
