Editor,
Voting is one of the most important things we can do to bring about change in our communities and to ensure our leaders are accountable. It is easy to slip into feeling one vote doesn’t matter - but it only makes sense that voices of people who do not vote are not heard. This is why women and minorities have worked hard and made enormous sacrifices to earn the right to vote. No matter how important voting is, many Americans won’t be able to vote on Election Day because they are not registered or because they have moved and have not updated their registration status. If you are one of these people, you should know that it is easy to register to vote and takes just a few minutes. Mission Valley Rises is holding registration drives in Polson (Walmart), Ronan (undetermined), St. Ignatius (Rod’s), and Arlee (Wilson’s Foods) - as well as many gatherings and festivals - throughout the summer and fall. We hope you’ll stop by to register to vote, to update your registration, or just to talk. If you are already registered, be sure to vote.
