The Family Summer Reading Program is nearly over. The last day to turn in your reading logs is Friday, Aug. 10. If you complete all 8 levels and want to go for a wet ride, Happy Hippo Day is Tuesday, Aug. 14. Make sure to get your reading log turned in on time to collect your boarding pass. On Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 6 p.m., Almeda Bradshaw will present “Homes and Honky Tonks: Post WWII Women in Country Music.” This Humanities Montana Conversations program is sure to be an entertaining evening. Our annual Ice Cream Social is Thursday, Aug. 16 at 10 a.m. We will be serving ice cream from The Cove with toppings galore. We will also be drawing for winners for all of the fun prizes we have this year.

Also on Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., the Friends of the Library will be hosting a Book Sale in the Library’s small meeting room. We have lots of great books for you to peruse and purchase. All proceeds benefit the library. Be sure to stop by. Ice cream and books – what more could you ask for?

Our final session in our three-part series called “Adulting 101” is set for Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 1 p.m. This session will focus on finances and travel. We will also be available to answer any questions you might have. Anyone who is interested is invited to attend; we just ask that you let us know you are coming as lunch will be served. To RSVP call the library at 883-8225 or respond on our Facebook event.

On Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 5:30 p.m., author Gwen Florio will be in the library meeting to do a reading and signing of her first literary novel, “Silent Hearts.” Gwen is the city editor for the Missoulian. She won the 2018 Writer of the Year award for Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers.

Heather is offering a session on Tablets this month on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 2 p.m. She will talk about what they are and how to use them. Bring your tablet, if you have one and join us. If not, we will have a few available to try.

The library is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday – and we have air conditioning. Visit our website www.northlakecountylibrary.org, our Facebook page, and check the calendar section for updates on library happenings.
