Ninepipes welcomes flute engineer

CHARLO – The sweet sounds of a flute will fill the diorama room at Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana on Saturday, Sept. 1. David Webb is the featured artist for the museum’s “First Saturday” series, and will exhibit his hand-crafted flutes and also provide 15-minute concerts throughout the day. Webb crafts Native American style flutes from a selection of more than 20 different exotic and traditional woods, birds and keys, which provides a different “voice” for each flute. Each piece receives his careful attention to detail and tuning. He has spent a lifetime in engineering design, woodwork and has a musical background. Starting in 2010, he started developing his “spiritual art” and has formed the company, Dakota Windsong Flutes, in Kalispell. Webb will be on hand to display his flutes and sell his CDs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will perform concerts on the hour from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in the large diorama room. Light refreshments will be served. The gift shop’s Labor Day Weekend sale runs Friday, Saturday and Monday with discounts on select merchandise.
