What a summer here at the Library. We had a very successful Family Summer Reading Program this year. A big thank you to all of our sponsors. Now that school is back in session, we are gearing toward fall and some exciting programs.

Youth Services Librarian, Kendra, will begin fall programming on Monday, September 10. Monday is Mother Goose time for babies and toddlers at 10:30 a.m. and Makerspace at 3:30 p.m. We have Story Time for preschool kids on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday Fun Days are always a great way to end a week with popcorn and either games or a movie, check our website for details.

Saturday, September 15, the library’s Amateur Astronomy Club along with the Coalition for Public Understanding of Science (COPUS) will host a science fair for families from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event will feature a variety of hands-on displays and activities as well as giveaways. It is an opportunity to interact with internationally acclaimed scientists and experts.

On Tuesday, September 25, at 2 p.m., Heather will teach a class called “Being Social.” If you’d like to learn how to use Facebook, Twitter or other social media sites, this is the class for you. Call the library to reserve your spot.

Wednesday, September 26, the library will host author Bernice Ende. Ende is a Montana teacher who decided to spend her retirement traveling across the country on horseback. She will give a slideshow presentation at 7 p.m. in the library meeting room and will also be signing her book, “Lady Long Rider – Alone across America on Horseback.”

The library now has two device charging stations. If you ever need to charge your device and have left your cord at home, just come to the library. You will find one in our atrium and the other in the children’s section. A big thank you to the Greater Polson Community Foundation for providing the library a grant to purchase these.

Save the date for October 3rd, 4th and 18th as the library is once again partnering with Missoula Public Library for the Big Read. MPL received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for this year’s event. “A Wizard of Earthsea” by Ursula K. Le Guin is the chosen title. Watch for more information on our website and Facebook page.

We have shifted back to our regular hours. The Library is open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit our website www.northlakecountylibrary.org, our Facebook page, and check the calendar section for updates on the happenings at the library.
