News from the Mission Falls Market

ST. IGNATIUS – The Mission Falls Market Garlic Festival will be held Sept. 28 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Good Old Days Pavilion in St. Ignatius. This free family event celebrates community and fall harvest abundance by offering a locally grown and prepared meal, live music, games, and garlic-themed vendor items, in addition to their usual local craft and farmer’s market.

The dinner, prepared by Mission Falls Market board members, will include a locally raised and roasted pig served as pulled pork tacos with local vegetable sides, grilled local corn and roasted garlic. This meal is offered for a suggested donation of $5-$50 per person. Beer and wine will also be available for purchase. All proceeds support the future of the Mission Falls Market. The Rock Throwers, formerly known as the Rock Pickers, and the Gypsy Jazz Players will entertain festival goers, who can expect a full belly, toe-tapping music, and many smiles.

Mission Falls Market is a non-profit organization founded for and by community members to connect local food systems with local people. The market accepts both debit cards, SNAP and elder coupons. Through generous donations and the continued participation and support during community events such as the Garlic Festival, the market is also able to offer double SNAP dollars. For instance, if a person spends $10 of their SNAP dollars, they receive $20 worth of food. Mission Falls Market exists to give everyone access to purchase and sell delicious, nutritious local food. The market bridges the gap between consumer and producer to build and support a healthy Mission Valley community.

If you would like to be a vendor at this special event, email the market at missionfallsmarket@gmail.com . Follow them on Facebook for more details about this and all upcoming events.
