ARLEE – The Food Sovereignty Committee of the Arlee Community Development Corporation is joining a national movement through The Family Dinner Project to provide a series of family style dinners for the community.

“The Family Dinner Project (TFDP) is a growing movement that champions family dinner as an opportunity for family members to connect with each other through food, fun and conversation about things that matter,” the project states. “We believe conversation is as essential to family sustenance as good nutrition. In fact, families tell us just that – saying that when they share a meal, they feel closer to each other and want to return to the table again and again.”

The Arlee Community Dinner will be a free night of food and conversation on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Arlee High School cafeteria. Everyone is invited. A fun activity will also be available for the kids.

According to TFDP, family meals have many physical and mental health benefits for families, including an increase in vocabulary for children, higher intake of healthy foods, a reduced risk of depression, and an opportunity to check in with children. More information is available at www.thefamilydinnerproject.org.

The community dinners in Arlee are open to anyone who wants to sit down to a good meal and conversation. For more information, contact Mary at 406-531-7975 or Makenzie at 406-493-2803.
