POLSON – Scores of spooky characters got together for weekend Halloween festivities, including a foot race and carnival.
On Saturday, people dressed up to attend the carnival hosted by the KwaTaqNuk Resort & Casino and Together As One (a suicide prevention program).
During the event, more than 200 children participated in a night of frightful family fun that featured a cakewalk, costume contest, fishing game, ring toss, beanbag toss, potato-sack race, basketball hoop shoot and more. “This is fabulous,” Lauren Mix said of the event’s unanticipated turnout. “It’s way, way, more than we thought.”
About 120 hand-decorated pumpkins added to the atmosphere. The Linderman Elementary School’s second-grade class decorated the pumpkins. The display was part of the Annual Polson Business Community Pumpkin Painting Contest, in which, KwaTaqNuk, First Interstate and Super One Foods partnered to develop.
On Saturday morning, 100 runners raced through the streets of Polson during the Monster Mash Fun Run. Participants were dressed in Halloween costumes. The onemile run and 5K were hosted by Linderman Elementary as part of the school’s Red Ribbon Week activities.
