News from the Salvation Army

The summer is in our rear-view mirror as we look ahead to the beauty of fall and winter. The Salvation Army Kettle campaign will soon arrive with ringing bells and smiling faces. Community support over the years has been outstanding with many churches, individuals and groups participating in bell ringing.

The Kettle Campaign is vital to meet the needs of Lake County. The Helping Hands Fund, Safe Harbor and local police departments are able to assist clients with food, clothing, temporary lodging, transportation, utilities, rent and prescriptions with the funds raised during our campaign.

In addition, this past year the Salvation Army was able to scholarship 25 children to attend our weeklong summer camp in Deer Park, Washington. Also, six dozen backpacks were given to local families in need. The turkeys for the community Thanksgiving dinner in Polson and Ronan were also supplied by The Salvation Army.

These projects and assistance are made possible because of the community’s willingness to donate time to ring the bell. Ninety percent of the monies raised in the Kettle Campaign stays right here in Lake County.

Bells will be ringing in Polson, Pablo, Ronan and St. Ignatius. Volunteers are needed at Super 1, Walmart, Harvest Foods and Pablo Foods locations from Nov. 23 to Dec. 24.

Don’t miss this opportunity to give back to your community. Please contact the following people to volunteer or for more information: Kathi and Sam Jacobson, Polson coordinators, 406-885-2492; Loretta Chambers, Ronan/Pablo coordinator, 406-883-6204; Gretchen Schnitzer, St. Ignatius, 406-644-0122; or contact Jennifer at Helping Hands at 406-883-8256. Thank you for your support.
