Bud Fitzpatrick

CHARLO — Bud Jesse Fitzpatrick, 71, was born on Aug. 22, 1947, in Oliver Gulch, Hot Springs to Alicia and Lloyd Bailey. He was an only child. Bud passed peacefully in his sleep on Nov. 19, 2018. Bud grew up on the ranch in Hot Springs and started driving tractors and farming at a tender age. He cut and baled hay, stacked hay, irrigated and raised grain and hay. Bud was a jack of all trades; there was nothing he couldn’t operate and keep going if it broke down. He built stock cars and raced them. He also did trucking hauling hay, grain, logs and lumber that he sawed at his own sawmill.

Bud met Carol Snyder (Cook) in May of 1968 and they lived in Hot Springs. Sheri was born to them in 1970 and in the fall of 1980 Dusty came into their lives. Judy was born in May of 1981 and Amanda was born in April of 1982. Bud, Carol and family moved to Charlo in the spring of 1982 onto the 80 acres belonging to Fred and Lela Fitzpatrick. Bud continued farming hay and grain, and also raised a few sheep and pigs.

Bud was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Lela Fitzpatrick; his mother, Alicia Whitman; his father, Lloyd Bailey; his uncles, Fred, Tom, Jim and Robert and his aunts; and one grandchild, Tucker Lane Matt.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his son, Dusty Fitzpatrick; and his daughter, Amanda Bettencourt (Derek), all of Charlo; his daughters, Sheri Matt ( Jody) of Ronan and Judy DuMont Wolfe (Cory) of Pablo; his grandchildren: Orissa Gohl ( Jay), Joe and Savannah Matt of Pablo; Arlene, Zayla, Zalvin Wolfe of Pablo; Jasmin of Oregon; Jesse Fitzpatrick and Madison Ashlyn Bettencourt, of Charlo; Glenda Fitzpatrick of Ronan; and one great-grandson, Breccan Matt of Ronan. Funeral services were held at Foster Funeral Home on Monday, Nov.26. Burial followed in Snyelmn Sntmtmne.
