PABLO – It was a night full of top-notch action as some of the area’s best players met one final time for the annual Mission Valley All-Star game Friday at Salish Kootenai College.

“It’s the last hoorah for the Valley,” Ronan boys basketball head coach Steve Woll said. “It’s awesome; a lot of kids who were once enemies become friends and get to play together.”

“We’ve found over the years that (the athletes) enjoy it,” Mission girls head coach Les Rice added. “They get to meet other kids that they compete against, and spark great friendships between rivals.”

In the boys’ game, Ronan’s Edmond Dupuis lifted the A team over the B team 66-65.

The B team came out strong, as Marcus Brown was able to drive the lane to the basket on multiple occasions, helping the B team lead 39-33 at the break.

Marcus Hungerford put the B team ahead 65-54 with a 3-pointer, but Dupuis’ acrobatic shot helped the A team pull out a one-point victory with moments to spare, winning 66-65.

Conner Coleman of Bigfork paced the A team with a game-high 14 points, while Dupuis finished with 11. Tanner Ostrom of Plains tacked on 10. Charlo’s Stephen Delaney and Ronan’s Brady Oakland added eight apiece for the A team.

The B team was led by Marcus Brown’s 12 points, while Arlee’s Junior Sansavere tacked on 11. Hungerford and Dave Cross of Hot Springs tallied nine apiece.

In the girls’ game, Charlo’s Kinley Pope went three-for-three in the opening minutes to give the A team a 9-0 lead. The A team continued to roll, going up 16-1 with eight minutes remaining in the first half and 31-12 at the break.

Both teams scored 24 in the second half, but the A team’s first half lead gave it the advantage, winning 55-36.

Pope and Shandeen Belinger of Two Eagle each scored 14 points for the A team, while Mission’s Stephanie Lewandowski put up six.

Two Eagle’s Nina Orozco paced the B team with 11 points, while Hot Springs’ Hannah Retallick finished with seven. Ronan’s Raymi Clairmont and Deondra Brown of Charlo both finished with six.
