Just when we thought winter was over … oh well, what a great excuse to stay indoors with a book or movie that you checked out from the library. We are adding new books and movies every week, so there is always something great to pick up. Don’t see what you are looking for on the shelves? Place something on a hold. We share our collection with over 30 other libraries in the state, so the best way to get the newest release is by placing a hold.

February is “I Love to Read” month, so we are celebrating with our annual Adopt-a-Book program. For a $15 donation you can choose from a selection of books for children and teens and we will place a personalized book plate in the cover. We have a wonderful selection, but hurry in; they go fast.

Heather is planning another technology class for Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. This “Basics III” class will focus on security. Call the library to reserve your spot. For Digital Learning Day on Thursday, Feb. 28, Heather will highlight the many electronic resources the library offers. Cookies, coffee and hot cocoa will be served from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Stop by to learn more.

Friday Night at the Library continues this month with our second movie, “Willow,” on Friday, Feb. 22, at 6 p.m. Popcorn and water are provided. You are welcome to bring your own non-alcoholic beverage and snacks. You must be in the library before the doors lock at 6 p.m. to view the film.

Our library is participating in the national “Recovering the Classics” project. Libraries across the country are partnering to bring new artwork to great classic books. We have posters available for purchase of 25 classic titles. Stop by or call the library for more information.

The library is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m., on Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. We are closed on Feb. 14 for a staff development day and on Feb. 18 for Presidents’ Day. Visit our new website: www.northlakecountylibrary. org, our Facebook page, and check the calendar section of the Valley Journal for updates on the happenings at the Library.
