Caroline Morton

POLSON — Caroline Virginia Felton Morton passed away at home on Jan. 29, 2019. She was born on Nov. 8, 1928, in Havre to William Pruden and Sally Borchardt Felton. She was their ninth child. She was raised in the Bears Paw Mountains and Chinook.

After high school she traveled to Great Falls to work, then on to Minneapolis and San Francisco. She returned to her parents’ home in Woods Bay on Flathead Lake and met her future husband Don Morton. They married on Oct. 31, 1953, and raised three children. While residing in the Bear Dance area, she worked hard with Don to plant a cherry orchard in Woods Bay. In the early 1980s they moved to a new home at the orchard. They moved to Polson in 2003.

Caroline loved to fish and camp when younger. She loved her family and grandchildren. She loved her flowers, music, painting and swimming. The last few years she loved going to the pool with her friends, the Aqua Chicks.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, sister and six brothers.

Caroline is survived by her husband, Don; her brother, Edward of Boise; her daughter, Jona Morton of Denver and her granddaughter, Jascha; her son, David and his wife Jane Morton of Polson and grandchildren, Alex and Mattie; her daughter, Rachel and her husband Stacy Violett of Polson and grandchildren, Elizabeth, Lucy and Max. She is also survived by her first cousin, Nettie Welborn of Dillon and many nieces and nephews.

Caroline wished for any memorials to be sent to St. Jude Hospital for children. A remembrance will be held in Dillon in June at the annual Felton Family reunion.

She is missed and loved.
