RONAN – Jacob Hugs scored a Mission Bulldogs’ team-high 18 points in an 84-41 challenge game loss to the Loyola Rams on Tuesday at Ronan. The loss gave Mission a third-place finish at the Western B sectional, while a win would have sent the Bulldogs to the State B tournament in Belgrade.

Tuesday’s game was initially scheduled for Monday evening and was delayed a day because of harsh winter weather conditions. During the game, the Rams jumped out to an early 9-0 first quarter lead before the Bulldogs were able to battle back and pull within four points of the lead, 15-11.

The Rams outpaced the Bulldogs 26-9 in the second quarter and took a 44-20 lead into the locker room at the half.

In the third quarter, Loyola pushed their lead to 64-33.

With a running clock in the fourth quarter, Loyola ended the game and Mission’s season by capturing the win.

The Bulldogs and first-year head coach Stuart Grant finished the season with an overall record of 13-10 and a third-place divisional finish.
