Is it spring yet? We are all wishing for better weather and to help you look forward to what has to eventually come, (it won’t still be snowing in June, will it?), check out the great magazine titles that you can read for free using your library card and Flipster. The cover on “Birds and Blooms” this month is sure to put you in a sunny disposition and the quilt on the cover of “McCall’s Quilting” reminds me of summer. You can find the link to Flipster on our website.

As a continuation of our “Needle Arts” series, the library is offering four “Learn to Crochet” classes on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. in March. We have purchased a limited number of crochet hooks for your use or you can bring your own. Yarn is also provided. If you would like to learn a new hobby or brush up on your technique, join us for this enjoyable afternoon session.

On March 26 at 2 p.m. Heather will offer the course “Absolute Basics: Email.” Call the library to reserve your spot for this informative class. Heather teaches you how to sign up for an email address as well as all of the ins and outs, and dos and don’ts of using email.

Our third installment of “Friday Night at the Library” will be held on Friday, March 22, at 6 p.m. We will show Disney’s new release, “Christopher Robin.” Popcorn and water are provided. You are welcome to bring your own non-alcoholic beverage and snacks. Please be in the library before the doors lock at 6 p.m.

We are having a Library Board Trustee election on May 7. The Lake County election office will mail ballots on April 17. You can find information about the candidates running for our two open seats on our website and in the library.

The library is open Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. We will be closed on March 14 for our last staff development day until the fall. Visit our website at: www.northlakecountylibrary.org, our Facebook page, and check the calendar section of the Valley Journal for updates on the happenings at the library.
