Pauline Baltz

STEVENSVILLE — Pauline Marie Baltz of Stevensville, passed away peacefully at home on April 8 surrounded by family and her spouse of 34 years, the “love of her life” Donald J. Baltz. She was born in Long Beach, California, on Oct. 2, 1927, to James E. Jackson and Zula C. (Murphy) Jackson but was raised in Coalinga, California. She was the eldest of four siblings (all deceased).

Our mother was very proud of her 28-year government career that started at the end of WWII on Treasure Island, off the San Francisco Bay. She transferred many times in her career. She moved to Skagway, Alaska, working with the Alaska Communication Systems, then back to California working at the McDonnell Douglas Aerospace Center, then to Miramar Naval Airforce Base and she completed her career working with the Forest Service in Missoula. She was a lifelong student and researcher.

Mom loved getting all dressed up and going to town. She enjoyed playing cards, the local live theater, reading and traveling the countryside to go dancing to the fiddlers. She was an avid artist and had an eye and heart for all things beautiful.

She is survived by her three daughters, Cherie Johansen of Soldotna, Alaska, Nena (Chris) Vogl of Park City, Montana, and Carla (Robert) Taylor of Cathedral City, California; her six grandchildren, her 13 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson. Honoring her request, there will be no services or memorials.
