RONAN – Infants born at the St. Luke Community Healthcare hospital’s New Beginning Birth Center will receive cozy blankets thanks to the generous donation from the Charlo High School class of 2022.
On Thursday, the freshman donated handmade fleece blankets to the birthing center, which were gladly accepted by Brooke Duty, St. Luke Community Healthcare marketing manager, and obstetric physicians Tyler Thorson and Mariah Bonner.
Every year, students from the Charlo High School participate in a class project that benefits the community in some form.
“We were thinking after PE class one day that we could make something for the hospital kids,” said Freshman Class President Molly Kate Sullivan. “So, we decided to make the fleece tie blankets.”
Nineteen students collaborated in the project that involved picking out the fleece fabric and constructing the blankets. “It was pretty fun,” said Charlo freshman Colt Hovet.
The class made a total of 56 blankets to be given away to the newborns.
“It means so much to us that they considered us for the blanket project, and we really appreciate the hard work the students put into organizing the project and making the blankets,” said Duty. “It is such a treat to be able to give the new babies born at St. Luke something personal. The families will really love having something special for their baby.”
