POLSON – The Polson boys and girls were victorious Tuesday afternoon, April 23, in a Northwest A conference tennis head-to-head matchup against Ronan.

The Polson boys came away with a 4-3 victory, while the girls swept Ronan 5-0.

Berkley Ellis led the way for the Polson girls with a 6-1, 6-1 win as number one in singles. Taylor Collinge (6-2, 6-2) and Avah Eggebrecht (6-1, 6-3) also won their singles matches. Only one match went three sets in the singles matches. Number four singles Polson’s Zenash Groves battled Kyyen Shigley to a three-set win, 6-1, 3-6, 6-0.

In the only girls doubles match of the day, Polson’s Megan Rost and Sarah Kinzle defeated Maddy Sevier and Aaliyah Decker of Ronan in two sets, 6-2,6-2.

On the boys side of the court, Polson swept all four singles matches getting victories from Kendal Forman-Webster (6-1, 6-0), MaKauly Morrison (6-0, 6-3) and Matt Hobbs (6-0, 6-4).

The most dominant singles performance on the day was that of Polson’s Bridger Wenzel. Wenzel jumped out to an early lead over Caden Bourdon and never looked back, winning 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, Ronan returned the favor and swept all the doubles matches.

Doubles team of Garrett Anderson and Thomas Yellowbird picked up Ronan’s first win by defeating the duo of Michael Smith and Tai Schriver, 6-3, 6-1. John Paca and Brady Dresden posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Polson’s Kenton Sisler and Ryan Doss, while Connor Cornwell and Sherman Violette of Ronan picked up a doubles win by forfeit.

“I thought that both Berkley Ellis and Kendal Forman Webster looked great at number-one singles, and Taylor Collinge looked great at number-two girls singles,” said Polson tennis coach Robert Hislop. “We also had a nice win at number-one girls doubles from Megan Rost and Sarah Kinzle.”

Ronan will host Polson on their courts on Thursday, May 2, at 3 p.m.
