POLSON – The Polson, Ronan and Mission boys and girls track and field teams competed for the last time before setting their sights on the upcoming divisional meets.

On Saturday, the Mission Bulldogs boys and girls traveled up to Bigfork to participate in the nine-team Bigfork Invitational track and field meet.

The Lady Bulldogs were co-runners-up, scoring 74 team points, winning two individual events and placing fourth in the 4X100 relay. 

Afton Brander finished first in the triple jump, measuring 31 feet and five inches. She placed first in the high jump with four feet, 10 inches for Mission. She also placed fourth in the long jump.

For the Lady Bulldogs, Karolyna Buck raced to a second-place finish in the 800 and placed fourth in the 1600. Sydney Brander jumped to a second-place finish in both the long and triple jump. Hunter Eichert finished fourth in the triple jump, while Addison Arlint threw for a second place finish in both the shot put and discus. Along with the two second-place finishes, Arlint grabbed fifth place in the javelin.

For the Bulldogs, Isaiah Nasateweya was fourth in the 1600 meters, and Charlie Adams was fifth in the long jump.

The Polson and Ronan boys and girls squads joined ten other teams from around Northwestern Montana Saturday in competition during the Nelson-Thomas ABC Track Meet held at the Polson Sport Complex.

Winning individual titles for Polson were Boston Goode in the 400 meters with a time of 52.92 and Mikaela Ducharme with a score of 17 feet, 3.50 inches in the long jump. Lady Pirate senior Bea Frissell won and set a new school record in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:05.38. Frissell also placed second in the 800 meters.

Top five finishers for the Polson boys are Ethan McCauley (fourth in the 400 meters), Jonathan Perez (fourth in the javelin), Abel Kimmel (fifth in the high jump), Colby Soderquist (fourth in the pole vault), Jarod Farrier (fifth in the pole vault), Ryker Wenderoth (fourth in the long jump) and Austin Luper (fifth in the long jump). The Pirate’s 4X100 and 4X400 teams placed fifth.

Top five finishers for the Polson girls are Mikaela Ducharme who placed second in the triple jump and fifth in the 100-meter dash and Maggie Todd who placed third in the triple jump.

For Ronan, Kinsley Barney paced the Maidens with a win in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.28 seconds and finishing second in the 100-meter dash. Teammate Kara Holmlund placed fifth in the shot put and Lindsey Brooks finished fifth in the high jump.

James Normandeau finished second in the 1600 and fourth in the 800, while Landon Lynch threw for a fourth-place finish in the discus for Ronan.

On Friday and Saturday, Ronan and Polson will travel east to Butte for the Northwest A Divisional Track and Field Meet, while Mission travels south to Missoula for the joint Class B-C Divisional.
