POLSON — The 16th annual Yellow Bay Cherry Blossom Festival will be held on Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Yellow Bay Community Clubhouse located on Montana Highway 35 at mile-marker 18. The festival is free and open to the public. Shoppers will enjoy a large selection of locally produced and hand-crafted items offered by talented local artisans.  Booth space is still available; for information and to reserve a spot, call Shari at 406-982-3437.

Free door prizes will be announced throughout the day, and raffle tickets for hundreds of dollars’ worth of gift certificates and merchandise donated from local businesses will be available for purchase until 4 p.m. One lucky winner will get to enjoy a night’s stay at the Northland Lodge in Waterton Lakes National Park. Raffle winners will be announced at 4 p.m. and do not need to be present to claim winnings.

The Yellow Bay Community Club’s ladies auxiliary will offer a homemade lunch of sloppy Joes, hot dogs, potato salad, and pie at a nominal charge, along with pies and sweet treats at the bake sale table.

Live music all day will feature local musicians.

The festival celebrates the cherry blossoms that traditionally bloom in early May ushering in the cherries that follow in July. The festival is also a major fundraiser for the Yellow Bay  Community Club, a social club serving residents all along the East Shore of Flathead Lake.  Proceeds help fund various charitable projects selected by the club, as well as maintenance of the 75-year-old (plus) clubhouse, home to potlucks, receptions, private celebrations, and cherry growers’ meetings. Membership and community events are open to all.
