Editor,

On the Longest Day – June 21, thousands of participants throughout the world will use their creativity and passion to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. From face-to-face support to online education programs, and promising worldwide research initiatives, the money we raise makes a difference in the lives of those facing Alzheimer’s.

The Flathead Area Chapter 646 of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees will host a fundraising and awareness of Alzheimer’s event at Rosauers on U.S. Highway 93 South from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 21.

There will be information on Alzheimer’s, including how to find out about resources in our local area and a fundraising drawing for a 32 inch TV. There will also be information on the upcoming Walk to End Alzheimer’s event scheduled for Sept. 8 at the Flathead Valley Community College.

NARFE members have been supporting Alzheimer’s research since 1985 and have provided more than $13 million in donations. We invite you to stop, shop, and support our fundraising event at Rosauers, and you can also donate to our event through the Alz.org website by clicking “Join the Fight” and then click “Find a Fundraiser” and then type in “NARFE – Flathead Area Chapter 646” and that should get you to our donation page.

Every dollar we raise at local events benefits those affected by Alzheimer’s disease in our own communities. More than 21,000 Montanans are currently dealing with Alzheimer’s and that total does not reflect any of the Montanans living with other types of dementia.

Together, the strength of our light will outshine the darkness of Alzheimer’s. We give a heartfelt “thank you” to Rosauers for supporting this special event.
