Editor,

Many thanks to all those who help make the “Boat Island” at the intersection of Highways 35 and 93 such a pretty, colorful spot in summer. It is a cheery welcome at the main entrance to our community.

Delaney’s Landscaping once again planted bright pink trailing petunias in several large pots and filled the little rowboat, (which gives this place its name), with colorful petunias. Last year Delaney’s installed the large pots and watering system which was a huge improvement.

Making the traffic island into a welcoming spot rather than a rather weedy plot of dirt was a suggestion Christine Pitts made at a meeting of the Envision Polson Beautification Committee about three years ago. It started with the little rowboat filled with flowers and has evolved into the whole area covered with blooms today.

Funding for the flowers is through tax-deductible directed gifts to the Greater Polson Community Foundation. Anyone wishing to donate to this cause should mail checks to GPCF, P.O. Box 314, Polson, MT 59860.
