Happy July everyone.  Our annual summer reading program is off to a great start. If you haven’t registered yet, just stop by the library or register online through our website. We have great coupons for local businesses, fun prizes, and amazing programs.

Don’t miss our annual Bug Race on July 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Polson Elks Lodge. You’ll be hopping all the way to the winner’s circle using plastic jumping bugs provided by the library. Space-themed snacks and crafts will follow the race.

On July 18 at 10:30 a.m. Amy Williams will be at the library to teach some new and traditional ways of understanding the cosmos with star stories and art from Native Skywatchers. You can also start to pick up your tickets for our space themed movie held at the Polson Theatres on Aug. 8.

On Tuesday, July 23, at 5 p.m. adults and teens should join us at the library as the Montana Space Grant Consortium’s Space Public Outreach team presents “Our Big Sky.” Refreshments will be served. On July 25 at 10:30 a.m. join us for yet another space themed program as our youth services librarian teaches about the sun. This program will be followed with a program suitable for all ages at 2 p.m. run by Kalispell’s Big Sky Astronomy Club head, Mark Paulson, who will use specialized solar observation equipment to do direct observation of the sun followed by a presentation at 3:30 p.m. offering a more advanced understanding of solar phenomena.

On July 18 at 5:30 p.m. come for a sing-along with Tango Cowboys. The Tango Cowboys lead cowboy camp sing-alongs with traditional songs that are great fun to play and sing. It should be a good time.

Heather is teaching “Computer Basics – Getting Photos from Device to Wall” on Tuesday, July 30, at 2 p.m. This is a great opportunity to learn how to get all of your wonderful family photos out of your device and show them off.

We will show a classic 80s summer vacation-themed film starring John Candy and Dan Aykroyd at our July 26 “Fourth Friday” movie night at the library. This comedy is rated PG, but beware there are some scenes more for adults and some language. Come enjoy the air conditioning. Check our website for the movie title.

Don’t forget that you can download and stream free, popular, ad-free music with “Freegal.” You just need a library card.  Click on the “Freegal” link on our website to learn more.

The library is open Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.  Visit our website at: www.northlakecountylibrary.org, our Facebook page, and check the calendar section of the Valley Journal for updates on the happenings at the library.
