News from Polson Police Sergeant George Simpson

POLSON – The Montana Trial Lawyers Association donated bicycle safety helmets for the Polson Police Department to distribute to children. This marks the 22nd year of the MTLA program and to date 16,800 helmets have been distributed free of charge for Montana children. Local trial lawyer Ann Moderie is the driving force assisting with the distribution of helmets in Polson.

This year Polson Police Officers handed out helmets at the bicycle rodeo during the Day of Hope in downtown Polson. The Day of Hope was a wonderful celebration, sponsored by the New Life Church, designed to meet the physical and practical needs of the children in our community.

“Bike and multi-sport helmets are a simple and effective protection that we can provide for our kids," Moderie said. "We want to work with police officials and others to get helmets out to our young kids, primarily kids whose families are not able to afford them. If a helmet protects just one child from the tragedy of suffering a traumatic head injury, the program will be worth it for us.”

Polson Police Chief Wade Nash thanked Moderie for partnering with the department in supplying helmets to local kids.

"I also appreciate the great work that New Life Church did in organizing such a fantastic event and for bringing hope to the Mission Valley,” Nash said.

Groups interested in participating in the program next year, as sponsors or recipients, are urged to contact the Montana Trial Lawyers Association office in Helena at 406-443-3124.
