Golf

Polson & Ronan

Polson Pirate golfer Trey Kelley shot a 72 to win the Polson Invitational held Monday, Sept. 17, at the Polson Bay Golf Club. Kelley won by two strokes over Hamilton golfer Tristan Hanson.

Out of the twelve participating golf teams, the Polson boys finished sixth in the standings, while the Polson girls placed third. Both Cali Cannon and Ellie Thiel tied for fourth place, shooting an 88 for the Lady Pirates.

The Ronan girls showed a solid performance with a fifth-place team finish, and the Ronan boys tied for eighth. Ronan Maiden Kylee Niemeyer carded a score of 100 in a tie for twelfth place in the girls individual standings.

During the Kalispell Invitational held at the Northern Pines Golf Club on Wednesday and Buffalo Hill Golf Club on Thursday, Kelley shot a 75 and 77 for a two-day score total of 152 to claim third place on the boys individual leader board.

Ellie Thiel paced the Lady Pirates and carded a 93-101-194 for eighth place. Cali Cannon finished tenth with a 98-98-196, and Esme Yarbrough placed eleventh.

 

Football

Charlo Vikings

On the road Friday evening, the Charlo Vikings fell to the Mission Bulldogs 24-6. Charlo quarterback Coyle Nagy hit running back Isaiah Allik on a 16-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter for the Viking’s lone score of the game.

 

Polson Pirates

The Polson Pirates moved to 3-1 on the season with a 40-36 road win the Ronan Chiefs on Friday night.

Pirate quarterback Bo Kelley went eight of 15 for 190 yards and three touchdowns.

 

Arlee Warriors

The Arlee Warriors fell 46-20 to the visiting Plain’s Horsemen in a Class C eight-man football matchup Friday night.

 

Soccer

Polson Pirates

In a Northern A soccer match up, the Polson Pirates fell 4-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 17, to the undefeated Whitefish Bulldogs in Whitefish.

 

Polson Lady Pirates

Sophia Moderi scored two goals in the 7-2 Lady Pirate road loss in Whitefish on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in Northern A soccer action. On Saturday, the Lady Pirates bounced back from the Whitefish loss with a 6-1 win over visiting Libby. No other stats were available by press deadline.

 

Volleyball

Charlo Lady Vikings

The Charlo Lady Vikings picked up another win on the road Friday night as they defeated hosting Valley Christian Lady Eagles 25-17, 26-16, 25-11. Carlee Fryberger led the Lady Vikings with 11 digs and six aces. Liev Smith and Kira McPhail each had six kills. 

 

Polson Lady Pirates

On Tuesday, Sept. 17, the Polson Lady Pirates walked away with a four-set 25-23, 23-25,25-17, 25-12 victory over Hamilton. Maggie Todd led the Lady Pirates with 20 digs and 10 kills. On Thursday evening, the Lady Pirates struggled against the visiting Columbia Falls WildKats and fell in three-sets, 16-25, 19-25, 13-25. In Ronan on Friday, the Lady Pirates battled to a five-set win over the Maidens.

Lena Pawloski scored four aces and 17 assists. Misty Tenas had four blocks and floored 13 kills.

Ronan Maidens

Madeline McCrea had seven kills, a block and two aces for the Maidens on Thursday, although the team lost at home to the visiting Whitefish Lady Bulldogs 11-25, 10-25, 17-25.
