Archie Forman, Jr.

RONAN — Archie Earl Forman, age 84, passed away on Sept. 29. 2019. Archie was born on Dec. 18, 1934, to Archie and Lorna Wemple Forman in Polson. He grew up on the ranch in Valley View along with his five siblings, taking on many chores and activities that were required of life growing up on the ranch.  Archie graduated from Polson High School and then went on to serve in the U.S. Army for two years.

In the ensuing years Archie was a rancher, construction operator, truck driver and an auto body repairman. He took over the family ranch in Valley View after his dad retired.

Archie married Jeanette James in 1965 and became a father to her two children, Sheila and Tracy.  Jeanette passed away in 1996.

Archie married Barbara Atwood on Feb. 5, 2000. After Archie’s retirement, he and Barb were able to spend many years as “snowbirds,” enjoying all of what the south had to offer and developing long lasting friendships. They also served for several years as camp hosts at various campgrounds.

Having attended auto body school, Archie put his talents to work repairing and restoring vintage cars as well as tractors. He was very proud of the restoration of his 1955 Ford Crown Victoria, which he drove in numerous parades and participated in activities of the Pioneer Car Club in Polson.

Archie was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Lorna; his brother, Donald; his wife, Jeanette and his son, Tracy.

He is survived by his wife, Barb and her children: Sue Ann Sizemore (Clancy) of Helena, Shelly Atwood-Deneault of Helena, Scott Atwood (Kelly) of Montrose, Colorado, Sandy Atwood Wilson (Lewis Brown) of Las Vegas, Nevada; his daughter, Sheila Clairmont of Liberty Lake, Washington; his siblings, Thomas Forman (Rose-Marie Mandryk) of Polson and Mesquite Nevada, Linda Richwine of Portland, Oregon, Lorna Fox of Missoula, Nancy Forman-Ebel (Douglas Ebel) of Florence; and many grandchildren; great- grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

Services have been held.
