Affordable childcare is one of the biggest workforce challenges in the Mission Valley. The lack of quality, affordable childcare often presents a barrier to employment for potential workers. But there are solutions.
“Childcare is a big issue for both employers and employees,” says Jenifer Blumberg, coordinator for the Best Beginnings Children’s Partnership. “One model that’s currently being explored is a possible employer-assisted childcare facility to be housed at Rocky Mountain Twist just south of Ronan. This facility could benefit not only Rocky Mountain Twist, but employees of other businesses as well.”
Kim Coontz, a national expert on childcare, will be giving presentations on cooperative and employer-assisted childcare options that could help put people to work here in the Mission Valley. Ms. Coontz has extensive experience in establishing day care facilities in a variety of settings. On Monday, Oct. 28, at noon, she will speak to interested employers at the Allentown Restaurant at Ninepipes. As there is limited space, reservations are required for the luncheon, which will be underwritten by Best Beginnings Children’s Partnership. To reserve your seat, contact Jenifer Blumberg at 406-883-7373 or: jblumberg@mt.gov
Ms. Coontz will also be giving a presentation on Monday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. in the Grey Leaf Gallery, 400 Main Street in Ronan. This presentation is open to the public and everyone is welcome.
