News from the Ronan Woman’s Club

PABLO – The Ronan Woman’s Club would like to say that the Pablo Elementary School fourth-grade poets rock at writing poetry.

Poetry contests and story writing contests are a tradition in the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. The Ronan Club would love to have poems and short stories submitted any time. The most recent contest winners were awarded on Feb. 12. by Ronan Woman’s Club President Joyce Rogers and treasurer Adina Fox. The winners were presented with certificates and checks in their classroom.

Fourth grader Rosalie Clatterbuck placed first; Aaron Luke placed second; and Scarlet Johnson placed third in the 2019 GFWC Ronan Woman’s Club Poetry Contest. The winning poems have been forwarded to the state chairman and may be entered in the international contest.

“Our students are very eager writers,” said teachers Ms. Fisher and Mr. Ness. In a question and answer period, students asked when they could enter the next contest. They were happy to hear that any poem written in 2020 and submitted by Dec. 31 is eligible.  A little bird told us that the fourth-grade students are already writing more poems (thank you Ms. Fisher).

All students attending grade K-12 are eligible to enter the contest, including winners from prior contests. Grade categories are kindergarten to second; third to fifth; sixth to eighth; and ninth to 12th. For information on how to enter, please call Rogers at 406-253-3355.
