Four new cases of COVID-19 found on Flathead Reservation

FLATHEAD RESERVATION – Lake County-CSKT Unified Command Center reported that Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Health officials confirmed Friday that three previously presumptive positive COVID-19 cases are positive. On top of the initial three, confirmation came from Montana DPHHS of a fourth case on the Flathead Indian Reservation.
A clear line of direct transmission has been identified linking all four cases. Public health nurses are working with the positive patients and their close contacts to ensure that everyone is tested and quarantined. At this time, everyone who was determined to have close contact to the four confirmed cases have been notified, interviewed and is undergoing testing.
Health officials are aware of a high level of concern in the community, which can drive up demands for testing. Even if people do not have symptoms, health officials are asking that they attend one of the four mass testing events next week, located at Arlee powwow grounds on June 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; at the SKC gym parking lot on June 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; at Polson High School on June 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and at the Elmo powwow grounds on June 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
If people are experiencing symptoms, they are asked to contact their primary provider to request a test. Two local testing locations for people experiencing symptoms include St. Joseph Medical Center or St. Luke Community Healthcare Hospital.
