Kibler pleads not guilty to assault

Alan Lewis Kibler, 34, of Polson entered a plea of not guilty in Polson District Court on June 10 to two counts of partner or family member assault, assault with a weapon and kidnapping, all felonies.
According to court records, on May 26, a social worker with child protective services reported to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office that Kibler might have assaulted a woman. The social worker accompanied Polson police to the home.
The front door had been damaged, and it appeared that a tool was used to pry it open. The woman’s right eye was black from what appeared to be an old injury. She also had scratches and other marks on her face. She said the injuries were caused by Kibler. She also said Kibler caused the damage to the door the night before. She later revealed a scab wound where she said Kibler burned her with a cigarette lighter.
She was given resources for domestic violence victims. The officer and social worker left. A short time later, the woman called 911 to report that she had told Kibler that he was no longer welcome and then he threatened to hurt her.
She then provided a statement on another assault that occurred May 20 when Kibler threatened her with a knife and said he would kill her. She said he forced her and her three-year-old daughter to take a ride to Buffalo Bridge. While on the ride, she said he stated that he would kill her by throwing her in the river.
Kibler remains in the Lake County jail with bail set at $50,000. Judge James Manley set the case for trial Nov. 30.
