Grace Sager

RONAN — Grace W. Seines Sager of Ronan passed away on Nov. 6, 2019. She was born in Polson on Dec. 3, 1926, to Gladys and John Seines. The family lived in Irvine Flats and the Ronan area. 

Following graduation from Ronan High School Grace went to work at Northern Pacific Hospital in Missoula, which is now St. Patrick Hospital. Through a friend she met Hubert H. Sager and was married on Jan. 20, 1946, in the Methodist Church in Ronan. They spent the first eight years of their life in LaVeta and Pine Bluffs, Colorado. In 1955 they loaded up and moved to Ronan. Together they shared a life of 57 years raising four children: Butch, Roland, Robert and Ronna Jeanne. 

Grace was active in the community as secretary at Ronan School District, Grand Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, advisor for Rainbow Girls, professional seamstress, as well as sharing her talents in art and gardening. Grace also researched family history and completed a family ancestry book. 

In 1972 she graduated from nursing school and went to work as an LPN at St. Luke’s Hospital. 

In her later years Grace worked at the Flower Mill, Chamber Visitor Center and was an active Ronan Senior Citizens member. 

At the time of her passing, Gracea was preceded in death by her husband Hubert H. Sager, and all of her siblings. 

Grace is survived by Hubert B. Sager and his wife Margie of Colville, Washington; Roland E. Sager (Linda); Robert L. Sager and his wife Linda Kae; and her daughter, Ronna J. Walchuk, all of Ronan; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 19 great great-grandchildren. 

A celebration of life will be held at the Pablo Christian Church on July 19, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. Included in the celebration of life will be Grace W. Sager; son, Hubert (Butch) Sager; and extended family member Leonard G. Moore. The celebration will be officiated by extended family member, Happy Cheff.
