POLSON – On the Fourth of July, a group following social distancing guidelines gathered on the bridge to support universal human rights.
About 30 people held up signs on the bridge while a Trump Boat Parade floated around Flathead Lake. The Lake County Republican Women organized the boat parade. The bridge gathering was organized by a group of Democrats.
Lisa Pavlock, who is running for House District 93, said she “proudly participated” in the bridge gathering to show support for issues and candidates that are important to her during this election year. She said the issues include support for public schools, women’s rights and a livable wage.
Pavlock said the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for a living wage so that people can afford basic needs, including healthcare.
“Shifting power back towards working people and supporting protections for workers are essential in the midst of this pandemic,” she said. “As many people are losing jobs, they are also losing their healthcare, so now more than ever we need to make sure that workers everywhere have access to affordable, comprehensive healthcare.”
Participants all wore masks as they walked along the bridge pathway. “As motorists passed by, many honked and waved in support,” she said.
