POLSON – Crumpled metal and charred wood are all that remain of a mobile home destroyed by fire late Wednesday evening, July 15.

Around 11 p.m., the Lake County 911 Dispatch Center received a call for a report of a structure fire on the 900 block of 7th Street East. Polson Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Straub said the single-wide mobile home was fully engulfed in flames and the roof had already collapsed by the time firefighting crews arrived on scene. The trailer was not occupied at the time of the fire and had been abandoned for several years, according to Straub.

Mutual aid from Polson Rural Fire, Polson Ambulance, Polson Police Department and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene. In total, five firefighting vehicles responded to extinguish the fire that left the home a complete loss. Firefighters were on scene for about two-and-a-half hours and no injuries were reported.

The Polson Fire Department served as the lead investigating agency and continues to work on sorting out evidence to determine the cause of the blaze, which currently remains unclear.
